Undergraduate and masters degrees in history from the University of Glasgow. A doctoral researcher in the Department of History at the University of York: Joe Saunders - University of York.

I am an Associate of AGRA, the Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives, the professional body for our field in England and Wales: Joe Saunders : Genealogist

I am also a member of the US-based Association of Professional Genealogists.

In 2023 I was elected an Associate Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and became an Affiliate of the Society of Antiquaries.
